A series of paintings have the title Listen - the first ones painted gesture of writing over the textural surface of past works layers of acrylic paint.

Also named Listen is a 3D piece also featuring the gesture of handwriting on watercolour paper cut into strips and stuck on a wooden frame.

While creating these I’m listening to the materials through the bumps of the surface, the paintbrush travelling across the surface representing an individual and the texture and bumps the journey through each day and life they take. 

The resulting works are informed by the surface texture, the writing becomes more indistinct.
